Function & Application
1. Mainly used as an ingredient in sports nutrition drinks.
2. Organic intermediates, biochemical reagents, and supporting reagents for measuring liver function.
3. Reduce body loss in postoperative patients and long-term patients.
4. As a precursor of tyrosine and glutamate in the brain. (α-ketoglutaric acid can generate glutamate through transamination)
5. α-ketoglutaric acid also has anti-cyanide effects. Experiments have shown that using it in combination with sodium nitrite and sodium thiosulfate can improve anti-cyanide ability and has anticonvulsant effects.
