Sialic acid (SA), scientific name is "N-acetylneuraminic acid", sialic acid is a kind of natural carbohydrate compound that exists widely in the biological system. It was first isolated by Blix from the mucin of the bovine mandibular salivary gland, so it wasnamed sialic acid. N-Acetylneuraminic Acid(sialic acid) is a carbohydrate that exists widely in nature, and it is also the basic component of many glycoproteins,glycopeptides and glycolipids.

Production process: The enzyme-catalyzed reaction of N-acetyl glucosamine was adopted into enzyme-membrane reactor to synthesize sialic acid.
