Flaxseed Lignans is an anti-oxidant phytochemical present in flax. It is a precursor of mammal lignans and a phytoestrogen. SDG has estrogenic and antioxidant activities. It also has antiestrogenic, anticarcinogenic, antiatherogenic and antidiabetic activities. In addition, it has the function of reducing hypercholesterolemic atherosclerosis oxidative stress and lowering serum levels of cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol and raising serum levels of high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol.
